TN Healthcare Reform Assistance: Enrollment Deadline Extended

Healthcare Reform Assistance March 31st Enrollment Deadline ExtendedHealthcare Reform Assistance: March 31st Enrollment Deadline  Extended

On March 25th it was announced that the Obama Administration would be granting extra time to Americans who said they were unable to enroll in health care plans through the federal insurance marketplace by the March 31st deadline. This is good news for many individuals who still need healthcare reform assistance; people who have begun to apply for coverage on but for one reason or another have had trouble getting signed up.

So, all consumers who had begun to apply on, but who did not finish by the March 31st deadline, will now have until mid-April to ask for an extension. Health and Human Services Department spokeswoman reported to Fox News that they are “expecting a surge in demand and are making sure that we will be ready to help consumers who may be in line by the deadline to complete enrollment—either online or over the phone.

The Washington Post reported that users will had the chance to check a box on the website indicating that they tried to enroll before the deadline, as many state governments and the federal government experienced technical problems with their enrollment websites. The core of the problem of individuals not being able to apply for healthcare online has seemingly been the difficulty in building an online health insurance marketplace that syncs up with the variety of state and federal databases.

Officials are hopeful that this deadline extension will help the individuals who need healthcare reform assistance.  At Barnes Insurance Agency, we not only offer Sevier County Health Insurance, but we specialize in helping both our individual and business clients navigate through the new provisions under the Affordable Healthcare Act, and help them understand what it means for them as an individual or an employer.
